“The liar’s punishment is not in the least that he is not believed, but in that he cannot believe anyone else”


I was thinking about this, and it struck me that it is not just liars who would be punished in this way; people who are incapable of accepting love are so because they are incapable of giving it.

    1. Exactly! I suppose we all fall into the “judging others by our own standards” category from time to time, but liars are completely alone all the time. The suspicion they live with day in and day out must be overwhelming.
