Julian of Norwich

Today is the feast day of Julian of Norwich.

She was a 14th Century Christian anchoress and mystic who had visions of Jesus Christ as she was receiving the last rites, and who wrote of her revelations in a book called Revelations of Divine Love. Not much is known of her life, except that she lived a life of solitary contemplation and prayer in the aftermath of the Black Death; we don’t even know her proper name.

These words are attributed to her, and I draw comfort from them when things feel out of control, or that they are not going in a direction I am comfortable with. In our Lord, indeed, all will be well.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well

Julian of Norwich

Wishing you grace and peace,
